An early start indeed. Mom awakes me in mid-dream of something I could not put my finger on minutes after, so it could not have been important. I get ready and we are soon driving to the Windy City, my princess’ warm hand in mine the whole way, my mind drifting between doze and reminiscing over the past three weeks. Three weeks that have unquestionably been the best I can remember. Whether it is the rosy haze of falling in love or the blessing of the last traces of fear being removed from my heart by the Lord Himself, I cannot tell, but it has been unmatched. I remember the beginning of tears in my princess’ eyes as I depart, but I do not look back, for my heart tells me we will see each other soon and I cannot do something that will make my princess feel any more pain than she has to feel. I have a wonderful trip back and I am upgraded to business class on the Johannesburg- Harare leg. Such a difference! I sit next to a fellow Zimbabwean on this leg who tells me he agrees there is such a difference between the mindsets of governments and all we need to do is to ask the Lord where he would have us be, since God is able to do all we need. Very wise words.
I message Christine who informs me she is waiting up for me, so I forego hot chocolate with my parents, but leave them with the photo album from my trip. They tell me another Skype session has been scheduled with my brother, so I will take it back tomorrow after church for the rest of the family to see too. Christine has very kindly assisted me with my room and I fall asleep back in my single bed after finding out there is still no water in my sub division. Good thing I anticipated this and showered at my parents home. There is electricity, though – we must appreciate the good, after all.
